About Us

    The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) origins begin in 1948 with the founding of the American Society for Personnel Administration by 28 individuals. Since then SHRM has grown to an organization of over 285,000 members in 165 countries. For nearly seven decades, the Society has been the leading provide of resources serving the needs of HR professional and advancing the practice of human resource managment. SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the Unites States and subsidiary offices in China, India and United Arab Emirates with the following mission:

    “SHRM serves the needs of the human resource management professional by providing the most essential and comprehensive set of resources available. In addition, the Society is committed to advancing the human resource profession and the capabilities of all human resource professionals to ensure that HR is an essential and effective partner in developing and executing organizational strategy.”

    The Southeast Alaska Chapter covers all of Southeast Alaska from Ketchikan to Yakutat and was, founded in 1991.  Our members serve as a local resource for HR professionals in all sectors of business and government in Southeast Alaska. The Southeast Alaska SHRM Chapter strives to provide local members of the HR profession with opportunities for professional development, networking, and access to the most up-to-date information.
